Xbox 360 questions
So.. I'm considering getting an Xbox 360 and would like to know if anyone has any suggestions for what system to get and as to what games it'd be a great help.
I am not looking to get Xbox Live\play online and I don't want to get any First person shooters on the console as I use my PC for those.
I have decided I want to get Fable 2, Gears of War and GTA4, do you have any other game suggestions which are 360 "must-haves?"
I know there are many type of 360 like the "arcade" and the "elite" yet idk what each one entails, if you could shed some light upon each for me and suggest a type I should get (in accordance to what games I like and the fact that I don't want to play online) would be a great help.
Thanks.

I would say Fall Out 3 and Oblivion, wait for them to fix all the bugs in FO3 first though.

Though, it would be wise to hold off purchase until the Jasper units ship, so the RROD doesn't happen. Call it friendly tech advice.
edit:friendly or not????

I have a question, slightly related?
How long do you think it'll be before microsoft produces another xbox?
I'm thinking about buying a 360 as well but don't want to plunk down $200 for a machine that'll last 2 years before being replaced.

Gears of War 2
When it comes out
Also Fable 2 is awesome
Microsoft has a 3 year warranty and also my 360 have not crapped out on me yet and I've been gaming on it like mad for the past year. Just take care of your console as in leave it in a well ventilated area

I think around the 2010 mark we will see a new Xbox, however I am never an early adopter as consoles as my first post would suggest ^^. I merely want some nice "current-gen" single-player gaming away from the PC where I play my multi-player games.
Thanks for all the responses they have been great help.

My suggestion would be to do this:
Buy a 360 arcade 200$ (MAKE SURE YOURS HAS AN HDMI PORT....if not, its an oldass one and will RROD in a week)
Buy a 120gig Harddrive 150$ <--most overpriced POS ever, but options are limited.
If you have a HDtv, go on amazon/ebay and buy an hdmi cable for 5$
With this, you spend ~360$ on a 360 that has all the stuff a 400$ elite has, plus you get a 256 memory card out of the deal. You dont get the chat headset, but buy one for 10 bucks at walmart. any phone headset will work, but you arent doing live anyways.
You want a big HD. It used to not matter, but middle of november xbox will be updated to let you save your game disks on the HD. This will really reduce loading times, plus as long as the disk is initally readable, the game is playable (the disk has to be in to authorize the game to play, but it doesnt need to read the whole disk to play. The noisy dvd drive wont even be spinning)
If you wanna go cheap, buy the arcade for 200, and buy the 20gig harddrive for 30 bucks through microsofts recently announced program. (new xbox update is too big for memory cards, so they are offering steep discounts on the harddrive)

Mass Effect plays well and Too Human is supposed to be fairly good. Some of the older games are surprisingly fun to play aswell. If you can find them cheap enough games like Ninety Nine Nights, and Lost Planet (which I thought was pretty good) are nice to waste a few hours away.
Realistically though if you can play it on your PC you would most likely be better off getting your games on PC than Xbox 360, especially considering you can use the wireless Xbox 360 controller on your PC aswell.

Fail... some XBox games will never ever be on the PC.
Don't get GTA4, its massively overhyped and while the game looks amazing the gameplay gets boring very quickly.
Saints Row 2 is much much better in terms of gameplay.

GTA4 started to go down the "gritty realism" road while Saints Row stuck with the fun over realism idea, giving it more room to be as mad and entertaining as possible. However, playing GTA4 online can still be fairly entertaining - even if it just listening to people trying to troll each other over their mics (pretty much the same for most 360 games anyway).
Soul Calibur 4 is sublime graphically but the fighting occasionally feels clunky, and the single player story mission is very short.
Mass Effect is good, although if you're not in to very VERY text heavy RPGS steer clear of it.
Crackdown is another sandbox(ish) crime game. The missions are repetitive, but picking up cars then throwing them at people or jumping from building to building is always enjoyable.
Gears of War is fun, although its gameplay shines when played online - but since youre not getting online I suppose that statement is redundant.
Assassins creed is also great graphically, but again suffers fom very repetaive mission , however the combat is pretty good.
Cant give you much info on Fable 2 since I havent played it yet. Neither can I think of any other games to suggest since most of the ones I played were FPS's.

If you already have a PC, don't buy any games that are for both PC and XBox. You will waste money buying them for $80 (that's what they cost here...).
Soul Calibur is a nice fighting game, if you've got a friend.
NINJA GAIDEN is an awesome, bloody and extremely tough game.
Uhm. And some jRPGs are left, but they are all the same, plus online options are better on PC.
Honestly, unless you REALLY want some xbox exclusives, don't buy the console...
